France commemorated the centennial of its takeover of Algeria and the commencement of its colonial adventure on June 14, 1830, and its occupancy on July 5, 1930, with a six-month celebration. France believed they had finally francized Algeria at that time, as part of a series of protests denigrating Algerians' memories. Moreover, France attempted to use this occasion to demonstrate to the rest of the world the efficacy of its colonial ways in educating Algerians and changing them from barbarians to civilized people. However, the Algerian people and national movement's reaction was beyond all expectations, as it grasped the gravity of the risks threatening Algerian existence, thus it led the national movement and enhanced its power and solidity, and its consciousness advanced significantly.
