The Oranian Civilization (Ibero-Maghrebian)

The Oranian Civilization (Ibero-Maghrebian)

The Ibero-Moroccan industry is distinguished by a profusion of short blades neatly sharpened by forceful adjustments. Undoubtedly, it is a universal approach used in a variety of tools. Moreover, these Microlite tools are known for their geometric character, as well as the prevalence of small blades in addition to the huge tools that frequently accompany them. Researchers also documents the presence of a minor stone core industry with various models that used the same industrial technique. Ibero-Moroccan tools are short and thick scrapers that are commonly composed of tiny stone cores, whilst chisels are simple and scarce. In the Ibero-Moroccan civilization, the bone industry is more diversified than stone tools, they created knives, axes, pins, hooks, and spears out of bones. These people, who are likely of Mashta al-Arabi - remnants of the skeletons of which were discovered in mass graves at Colomanta and Avalo Borme.  The knife, elongated and flat with a straight edge and rounded base, is the most distinguishing aspect of these tools. This is in addition to the simple bony needles and a plethora of decorative tools such as snails, where most of which are ornamented with colored metal elements. The bone-tools are classified into three major classes based on their ends:

              - Sharp-tipped piercing tools

              - Tools having sculpted ends that are smooth or rounded.
              - Sharp tools with a slant edge.

Some researchers believe that the pioneers of this civilization are the descendants of pre homo sapiens Maghrebi, while others believe that they came to this region from the countries of the Middle East. They are people who are more stable than nomadic, they mastered hunting and collecting snails.
