The minaret of el Mansourah mosque:

One of the buildings constructed by the conquerors in their new city is the great mosque known presently as the Mansourah mosque. The sultan Abi Youcef Yaakoub Ibn Abdelhaq ordered the construction of the mosque in 702 hijri /1303a AD , however he died and couldn’t witness the completion  of its construction .

If most of the mosque’s features  were erased  because of time factors and the fragile construction materials of the mosque  and the city walls,  the most prominent architectural elements are still existing in the city  and retaining  many beautiful  art patterns  and architectural styles .

The minaret of the mosque and some city walls witnessed this civilizational edifice. The construction of the mosque started in 702 hijri/ 1303 AD and ended in 736/1336ad, the plan of the mosque is in a rectangular shape with dimensions of 80 x 60 meters , along with a square sahn(yard), The builders chose the minaret as the main entrance of the mosque, it is characterized with its  height estimated at 30 meters, in a tower shape with demolished internal part , Decorated with ornaments resembling to the Giralda minaret in the Andalusian city Seville and the two minarets of the Hassan mosque in Rabat and koutoubia in Marrakech.
