Tipaza
The city’s importance emerged as the first Carthaginian trading center from the 6th until the 2nd century BC , it was also one of the most important Punic coastal cities before it got occupied by Romans . It became after the Roman occupation a small Roman trade site important to the Roman empire.
Romans have built in many beautiful building still existing today, the most famous one is a temple transformed to a church named Saint Salsa on the eastern hill as well as two baths with a unique design, a roman theater and an amphitheater .Tipaza differs from other roman ruins in Algeria ,since it is located on small hills overlooking the sea, Which makes it a great place for swimming and relaxing by the beach in a historical old place. And not so far from site there is the Mauritanian mausoleum or as known locally the Roman tomb .It is said that it is the place where Cleopatra selen was buried. This site was listed in Uniesco’s world heritage in 1982.
